Having recently merged two clubs together, namely The Explorers Club (which was 40 years old!) and the Munro Pineapple Society (long story...), UoNMC is now in its third year.
We are a club which partakes in a range of activities from hillwalking to winter mountaineering. We try to get out to Scotland as much as possible throughout the year since it always holds a vast amount of options in terms of walks, scrambles and winter related activities.
Previous trip include the Lake District, Snowdonia, Glen Coe, Fort William, Torridon, the Isle of Skye, the Alps...and Norway!
People who join the Mountaineering Club range from people who have never really been for a walk before to people with a relatively large amount of technical mountaineering experience. The Mountaineering Club simply provides a place to meet people with similar interests. All of our members learn something everytime they go out; inexperienced and battle-hardened members alike learning new skills and developing old ones. Indeed, some people who have joined the club out of curiosity and with no desire to go climbing whatsoever have found themselves on hard routes in the Alps only a year later!
We have a social every week on alternating Wednesdays and Tuesdays so that you can meet like-minded people and to sign up for the trips. A detailed calendar of socials around Nottingham can be found on the socials page of this site.
